A deciduous shrub to maybe 4m high and across. The leaves are yellow-green and tri-foliate, with the central leaflet larger than the other two. These are smaller and set precisely at 90 degrees to the main one. The leaflets are slender with slight serrations. The flowers are in clusters of pale yellow-green and of little decoration, but which become (on female plants if a male is also grown) orange flattened berries like buttons.
