A species of flowering plant cultivated as an ornamental tree and for its edible fruit, with green glossy leaves, and unusual-looking flowers with thick white petals and red stamens, which are also edible. The fruit tastes like a mixture of strawberry, guava and pineapple whilst the flowers have a sweet flavour similar to marshmallows
