A medium-sized epiphytic orchid with elliptic, dark green, leathery leaves. The plant produces a clump of pseudobulbs (thickened stems on the base of each growth), which serve as a storage organ for water and nutrients. Each pseudobulb carries one large leaf. 12-15cm long, pendant flower stems emerge from the basket base in summer and carry up to 8 waxy, fragrant flowers. Each flower is pale cream or pale yellow, approximately 9cm large. The flowers are short-lived, lasting only 2-3 days, but large plants produce many inflorescences that open in succession.
