Mat-forming succulent with open rosettes to 10cm across, with thick, bristle-tipped blue-green leaves flushed dark purple. Upright hairy spikes to 15cm tall, of starry red-purple flowers produced from mature rosettes, die off after flowering in summer and are replaced by new offsets

Cultivation
