Massonia 'Bedford'

An unnamed species from the Bedford area of South Africa. It is a-low growing, deciduous, perennial, bulbous plant, which grows in winter and is dormant in summer, bearing two, fleshy, green leaves, the upper surfaces of which are covered in darker green, wart-like bumps. The leaves are approximately oval in shape, up to 10cm in length and lie flat over the soil surface. A brush-like cluster of white, fragrant flowers appears at ground level between the leaves, from November to December
