A mat-forming, evergreen succulent producing large, well-shaped, fleshy rosettes, the smooth, spoon-shaped leaves are dark purplish-brown for most of the year, flushed bright orange-red in spring and summer. Tall spikes of starry pink flowers produced from mature rosettes, die off after flowering in summer and are replaced by new offsets

Cultivation
