A clump-forming deciduous perennial to 45cm high and 1.2m across. Leaves are oval with pointed tips, and dark green with a silvery-blue waxy sheen, and a faint pale green marking in the centre that develops as the leaves mature. Produces loose clusters of pale purple flowers on upright stems in summer
