A rhizomatous, herbaceous perennial, up to 70cm high in flower, with glaucous, sword-shaped leaves and scented, bold, brick-red stitch-veined markings over a white base, erect rusty pink standards and golden yellow beards on a yellow base, flowering in May.

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in well-drained, fertile, neutral to slightly alkaline loam in full sun, with upper part of rhizomes exposed at soil level and not overshadowed, rotate every 5-6 years. See bearded iris cultivation
