A mat-forming, evergreen succulent producing large rosettes of warm brown leaves, which start off yellowish in spring, the best colour in the flowering rosettes as the leaves become elongated and edged with red. Tall spikes of starry red flowers are produced from mature rosettes in summer

Cultivation
