A rosette-forming perennial to 15cm, with thick, rounded, glossy, mid-green leaves. In spring produces solitary, spherical, glossy, red buds atop stout, upright stems, opening to reveal red, yellow or bright green petals around a central green boss ringed by deep yellow stamens
