S. brevifolium is a semi-evergreen, slowly-spreading, mat-forming succulent to 10cm high. The small, ovoid pale green leaves to 2mm long held on short wiry stems are often tinged with red and may be covered with a white bloom. Small, white flowers are borne in summer
