Bursary reports for the Dawn Jolliffe Botanical Art Award and the photographic artwork projects require different guidelines. Read our writing tips here

Information for Dawn Jolliffe Botanical Art Bursary recipients

Please ensure your report contains:

(i) An explanation of the presentation of your art work

  • Type and size of materials used e.g. type of paper, whether mats used etc.
  • Framing and covering e.g. the use of acetate either under or over each display
  • Method of transportation e.g. protection by non-glare plexiglass.

(ii) Your techniques and skills

  • Watercolours - combination of washes, layering and dry-brushing, if used.
  • Acrylics, coloured inks, pencil drawings, if appropriate.

(iii) Reasons for choice of subject matter

  • Favourite flowers
  • Unusual flowers or vegetables
  • Scientific theme
  • UK woodland, flora, wildflowers, tropical flowers etc.

(iv) Summary of costs for exhibiting

  • Travel costs: air fare, train, taxi or petrol
  • Accommodation
  • Cost of display materials.

Information for recipients of photographic artwork projects

Please ensure your report contains the following information:

(i) Explanation of the presentation of your photographic work

  • Type of photographic paper used for printing and presentation
  • Framing and mounting, if applicable
  • Method of transportation and protection.

(ii) Your techniques and skills

  • Type of camera and film
  • Shutter speed used.

(iii) Reasons for choice of subject matter

  • Favourite flowers
  • Unusual flowers or vegetables
  • Scientific theme
  • UK woodland, flora, wildflowers, tropical flowers etc.

(iv) Summary of costs for exhibiting:

  • Travel costs: air fare, train, taxi or petrol
  • Accommodation
  • Cost of display materials.
