Librarians are responsible for all kinds of library services, from helping visitors and volunteers to preserving books and heritage collections

Training, qualifications and skills A degree in librarianship or MA is essential. A keen interest in gardening or horticulture is useful too, but not essential

Managing all aspects of the frontline library service. This includes administration, working with visitors and liaising with other teams at RHS gardens to support their jobs as well as garden events.

Librarians can work in any field, so if you have a particular interest in horticulture as well, this will really help in the job.

I organise and present tours using the library’s resources for library visitors. I answer enquiries in person and via email from our library users.
