About the garden
Set within one of Cornwall’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Trebah is a sub-tropical paradise set against a beautiful coastal backdrop. After nearly 200 years of dedicated cultivation, Trebah offers visitors a year-round experience.
In spring, the garden bursts into life with a colourful display of 100-year-old rhododendrons, magnolias and camellias. In summer, Gunnera forms tunnels that can be explored beneath its enormous leaves, which often grow up to two metres wide. In autumn, Hydrangea Valley casts clouds of china blue and soft white flowers across Mallard Pond, while in winter, spectacular champion trees dominate the landscape and plants from the southern hemisphere flower.
The garden’s unique character comes from the mass planting of Victorian collectables from around the globe. The ‘bamboozle’ contains nearly 50 species of bamboo, alongside an impressive mass planting of Gunnera x cryptica. The Court Garden, which opened in 2023, is packed with colour and fragrance and features many plants cultivated in Trebah’s nursery.
