Wentworth Woodhouse
About the garden
Wentworth Woodhouse is the largest country house in the UK, boasting over fifty acres of beautiful gardens to explore. Once the site of open-cast mining, the gardens now provide a tranquil space filled with ancient trees, shaded woodland copses and a peppering of follies and monuments across the landscape.
Whether you choose to visit early in the year to admire snowdrops, daffodils, bluebells and camellias, or wait for the rhododendrons and border garden to burst into life, the gardens offer something for everyone. The newly restored Camellia House, home to some of the Britain’s rarest and oldest camellias, is a must-see and an ideal spot to enjoy lunch while overlooking the Orchard and Ionic Temple.
Children can learn more about the gardens with free activity sheets, and for seeking a mindful visit, the complimentary Wentworth Wellbeing guide offers activities to help you reconnect with nature.
