About the garden

Iris Bannochie's masterpiece is simply wonderful. The journey through the ever-changing landscape is full of surprises and wonder. More than 500 species of plant, including more than 100 tree species are wonderfully arranged.
The trees are mature and the smaller spaces that create Andromeda Botanic Gardens are intimate yet exciting. Wander through the Palm Garden and have a rest in the gazebo, constructed for the visit by Queen Ingrid of Denmark in 1971; sit in the shade of the White Garden; be mesmerised by the foliage in the Arum Garden; and marvel at the sight of heliconias and ginger lilies in the Heliconia Walk.
Managed organically, the biodiversity within Andromeda is outstanding. Bees, birds and butterflies add more life and interest. Perhaps you’ll spot some hummingbirds in our Hummingbird Zones and elsewhere.
