About the garden

Established in 1926, the grounds at Anglesey Abbey are among the most impressive gardens created in England during the 20th century. They feature majestic avenues, expansive lawns and stunning seasonal displays. Large formal gardens, bordered by yew hedges, showcase the collection of classical and Renaissance statues gathered by the 1st Lord Fairhaven.

Weekday garden tours are available, with each season highlighting different attractions. In January and February, visitors can admire beautiful snowdrops, followed by vibrant daffodils and spring bulbs in March and April. The Formal Garden boasts magnificent displays of hyacinths, while the Himalayan Silver Birch Grove is filled with colourful tulips.

During the summer, the sweeping Herbaceous Border, wildflower meadows and English Rose Garden come to life and dahlias provide a burst of colour in early autumn. The Winter Garden, planted with trees and shrubs selected for their vivid stems, textures and scents, brighten even the coldest winter days.
