About the garden

Canonteign Falls is a breathtaking 90-acre estate located in the heart of Devon. It features a delightful mix of parkland, ancient woodlands, lakes, meadows and rare plant collections. A highlight for garden enthusiasts is the award-winning Victorian Fern Garden, which received Plant Heritage National Collection status in 2022. This beautifully restored 19th-century garden captures the era's fascination with ferns and fairies, providing a magical, shaded retreat.

Visitors can embark on a scenic climb up the original 90 Victorian steps, which offer breathtaking views of the Devon countryside. The estate is home to seven lakes, diverse wildlife and vibrant wildflower meadows, all of which showcase ever-changing beauty throughout the seasons. The lower lakes feature a tranquil labyrinth and a poetry oak, making them ideal spots for quiet contemplation.

From the vibrant growth of spring to the rich colours of autumn, Canonteign Falls inspires plant and nature lovers year-round. Complete your visit with a traditional Devonshire cream tea or afternoon tea in the lakeside café, enjoying the beauty of nature all around you. The shop on-site also offers a variety of local products and artisan gifts, perfect for souvenirs or a special treat.
