About the garden
Cusworth Hall Gardens sit within the historic walled garden of the original Cusworth Manor House, restored to its former glory with contemporary planting that complements 64 acres of 18th-century parkland designed by Richard Woods. The park features lakes, woodlands and historic structures, while the walled garden tells a story of revival. Once abandoned and derelict, it was brought back to life through a major restoration project beginning in 2007, led by the park’s dedicated team and volunteers.
Highlights include the restored Bowling Green framed by fan-trained peach trees, a replanted orchard with rare Yorkshire apple varieties, and the formal Flower Garden edged with box and yew, filled with scented roses and pollinator-friendly perennials. The recently completed Hall Garden adds drama with bold waves of grasses and vibrant herbaceous planting in hot colours. With plans for vegetables, beehives and interpretation boards underway, Cusworth continues to evolve, offering visitors a rich blend of history, horticulture and beauty.
