About the garden
The Laskett Garden in Herefordshire is one of Britain’s most remarkable autobiographical gardens, created by Sir Roy Strong and his late wife Julia Trevelyan Oman as a celebration of art, history and their life together. Beginning in 1972 with a few rosemary plants, the couple transformed four acres into a personal masterpiece of 24 garden rooms and 18 distinctive features, each reflecting milestones in their lives and national events. Long vistas and wide paths create a sense of grandeur while maintaining an intimate, romantic atmosphere.
Today, The Laskett is cared for by Perennial, the UK charity supporting horticultural workers, with volunteers helping to preserve its unique character. Visitors can explore themed spaces, enjoy tea and homemade cake in the tearoom, browse the plant nursery and choose gifts from the shop. Rich in stories and creativity, The Laskett offers a deeply personal experience and remains a testament to the vision and artistry of its creators.
