An erect to rambling, rhizomatous perennial with stems, 30-90cm tall, bearing lance-shaped, stalkless leaves in whirls of 3-6. Bearing pairs of pendant, white, greenish-white or pale, purple tubular flowers with a slight waist in the middle, from spring to early summer followed by red spherical fruits
