A short-lived, deciduous, dwarf perennial up to 35cm when in flower. Plants form a mound of finely dissected, dark green leaves with delicate, branching, floriferous spikes of midnight blue flowers with prominent spurs, in late spring and early summer.

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Shelter from strong winds and provide support (see staking perennials). Divide every 2-5 years to maintain vigour

Pruning

deadhead main stem after flowering to encourage side shoots to flower. Cut back to ground level in autumn
