A tall, tuberous-rooted perennial to 1.1m, with mid-green foliage, blooming from mid-summer to the first frosts. Flowers are white, 20cm across, shading to lemon yellow in the centre. The petals are narrowly quilled, with gentle curves and twists, giving a swirly, spidery effect

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil, enriched with organic matter, in full sun. Pinch out growing tips to encourage bushy plants and stake – see staking perennials. Propagation

Propagate by softwood cuttings taken in spring from shoots from stored tubers, or divide the tubers, ensuring each section has at least one viable bud

Pruning
