A mat-forming, evergreen succulent producing large, fleshy rosettes, the spoon-shaped leaves vary from glowing red in spring, to dark brown in summer, then fading to green and brown in autumn and winter. Tall spikes of starry pink flowers produced from mature rosettes, die off after flowering in summer and are replaced by new offsets
