A carnivorous, evergreen perennial forming a small rosette of yellow-green, sticky leaves which are adapted to trap and digest insects. Solitary, pale purple flowers are borne on erect stems in summer. In winter this species has a period of semi-dormancy when it should be kept drier; during this time it may produce non-carnivorous leaves
