A large-sized, evergreen, tropical, epiphytic or litophytic orchid species. As a typical example of monopodial orchid, the new growth emerges from a central tip on a long, central rhizome, covered in leaf-bearing green sheaths. Alternate, green or dark green, strap-shaped leaves up to 40cm long angle out from the central stem. As the new leaves emerge from the top, the older - lower leaves gradually fall off. A typical feature of the plant is an impressive sysytem of aerial roots. New adventurous roots emerge from the main stem, following the ascending growing trend. 20cm long inflorescences appear from the axils of leaves and carry up to 12 small, long-lasting, fleshy flowers. Flowers are 3-5cm across, yellow with brown pattern. Petals and sepals are curved, with yellow margins.
