A mound-forming, deciduous shrub or small tree with cascading shoots that bear finely-cut leaves which emerge purple to burgundy red in the spring. Leaves turn a greenish-purple in the summer before turning orange and brighter red in the autumn. Small purple-red flowers may be followed by winged fruits in the autumn

Cultivation
