A very old french heirloom, producing compact plants and flattened, round, orange-red pumpkins, to around 25cm (10in) in diameter and 11kg (25lbs) in weight. These are reminiscent of the pumpkin-shaped carriage in Cinderella to which the name refers. Two fruits are usually produced per plant. Its relatively compact habit makes it suitable for growing in containers on the patio where border space is limited. The bright yellow flowers are attractive to pollinating insects. The flowers can also be picked and used in cooking
