A clump-forming, evergreen, rhizomatous perennial with arching stems to 30cm tall bearing wavy-edged, oval to broadly lanceolate leaves. Bell-shaped, lightly-fragrant, whitish flowers with dark spotting inside are borne at the leaf axils in summer and followed by dark purplish berries
