Deciduous, small, shrubby tree about 4m tall, with a narrow vase-shaped crown, and palmate 5-7 lobed dark green leaves, densely white and hairy beneath, producing rich red and purplish-pink autumn colour. Yellowish-green flowers in racemes are produced in spring and followed by purplish-brown winged fruits
