A deciduous small tree or large shrub with a rounded, spreading habit and oval-shaped, variegated grey-green foliage, turning dark red to purple in the autumn. Luminescent green flowers (bracts) turning to creamy-white, appear early to mid-summer, followed by strawberry-like pink berries in the autumn
