A mat-forming, evergreen succulent producing fleshy rosettes, in clusters, the spoon-shaped, purple-burgundy leaves with green bases in winter, become reddish-brown in spring, tinged gold in bright sunlight, with tufts and webbing of white hairs on leaf edges. Tall spikes of starry pink flowers produced from mature rosettes, die off after flowering in summer and are replaced by new offsets

Cultivation
