A clump-forming, rhizomatous herbaceous perennial to around 100cm in height, with sword-shaped grey-green leaves. Flowers are pale lavender-purple with darker speckles with pale yellow falls heavily speckled with pale lavender-purple, and a golden-yellow signal appearing from late spring to early summer
