A clump-forming perennial, to around 40cm high in flower, forming a dense mound of deeply lobed, slightly glossy green leaves with toothed edges. Single and semi-double flowers, golden yellow in the centres and flushed with soft orange and red at the edges, are borne on dark purple stems above the foliage from late spring to early summer

Cultivation

Thrives in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun; will tolerate light shade but flowering is better in sun. Avoid areas that are waterlogged over winter. Divide every three years or so to maintain vigour
