A small to medium-sized, epiphythic orchid, with upright, narrowly oval, evergreen leaves. New growth appears from the base od swollen stems (pseudobulbs), which serve as a storage for water and nutrients. Each pseudobulb is oval-shaped, slightly flattened, carrying a pair of leaves. The plant typically flowers in autumn, but may produce flowers almost any time of year. New flowering stems arise from the base of the maturing pseudobulbs and carry numerous, small (2cm wide) sweetly scented flowers. Colour of flowers range depending on cultivar from pale cream or pink to a soft red. The plant often produces multiple, pendulous, simultaneously flowering stems for an impressive display.
