Columnar evergreen tree about 8m tall, with narrowly oblong to lance-shaped glossy dark green leaves. Saucer-shaped flowers produced in early and midsummer, are 5cm across, flushed pale pink with a darker eye and red stamens

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in a position sheltered from cold, drying winds and in full sun, but with the roots in shade in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil which is neutral or acidic. Flowers are an excellent nectar source

Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in summer, and overwinter young plants in a cool greenhouse
