A deciduous climber, to around 2m high, with stems tinted purple when young, and oval-shaped green leaves. Flowers are large, pale pink with a fine dark pink edge, and up to 15cm across. Flowers are produced from late spring to late summer, with double flowers produced on last year's wood, and single or semi-double flowers produced on new growth. These are followed by persistent seedheads

How to Grow

Cultivation

Plant with the top of the root ball about 8cm below the soil surface, in a moisture-retentive, well-drained soil. Position in sun or part shade, with the roots and base of the plant kept cool and shaded by other plants or a layer of pebbles at the base. See clematis cultivation for more advice

Pruning
