A striking, tender, mound-forming and spreading perennial, usually grown as a container patio plant or bedding annual for seasonal displays. It has ovate, sticky-hairy, mid-green leaves and, from late spring into autumn, double flowers that appear ruffled and darkest velvety red-black. A compact, tight growing variety with smaller dainty double flowers.
