Herbaceous Perennial

A semi-evergreen herbaceous perennial that reaches approximately 102cm in height when in flower. It forms a clump of arching, strap-like green leaves and grape-purple coloured flowers that have a green throat and cream mid-rib to 15cm across in summer. The spider-type flowers have have a twirling and drooping appearance and remain open for 16 hours or more

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil preferably in full sun. Flowering is likely to be poor in shadier situations. Tolerant of heavy clay and poorer soils. May need watering in spring to early summer in dry conditions to ensure flowering. See hemerocallis cultivation or daylily cultivation.
