An evergreen, epiphytic orchid with elongated, upright, cane-like stems growing from a short creeping rhizome. Each stem- pseudobulb is narrower at the base, broadening upwards, carrying single, large, rigid dark or mid green leaf. The leaves are broadly-oval, leathery and up to 30cm long. Large, showy flowers emerge on short, terminal stems on young, mature canes. The colour of these hybrids can be variable, depending on cultivar. Flowers are mostly pale or mid pink, up to 20cm across. the large lip with frilled edge is often dark purple in the lower half, with a golden yellow throat.
