An evergreen, epiphytic orchid with upright, cane-like stems growing from a short creeping rhizome. Each stem (pseudobulb) is broader in the upper half, carrying a single firm, 2ocm long and 5cm wide leaf. The leaves are thick, leathery, broadly-oval, light or mid-green. Pseudobulbs are wrapped with thin, papery sheaths, becoming ribbed with age. Large, showy flowers are carried on short, terminal stems arising from the new mature growth in autumn. Each flower measures up to 15cm across, with pale pink petals and sepals. The large, prominent lip is veined with yellow and dark brown markings and dark pink in the lower half.
