A robust, clump-forming perennial to 75cm tall, forming a mound of long-pointed leaves; the foliage takes on red and purple hues in autumn. For many weeks from late summer it produces an abundance of bright red flowers in erect spikes. The flowers are particularly attractive to pollinating insects
