A rhizomatous perennial, to 90cm high in flower, with upright, sword-shaped, grey-green leaves, and tall, branching stems bearing 9 to 11 flowers. Flowers have heavily ruffled, very pale pinkish-grey standards, pale violet falls with conspicuous veining, and a pale purple beard. Mid season

Cultivation

Thrives in a sunny position, in neutral to slightly acid soil with good drainage. Plant rhizomes just above soil level, as sun on the rhizomes encourages flowering. See bearded iris cultivation
