A deciduous small tree or large shrub with a spreading habit and pointed, oval-shaped, dark green foliage turning to shades of red and purple in the autumn. Small white flowers are surrounded by pink bracts, appear early to mid-summer, followed by strawberry-like pink berries in the autumn
