A very unique, medium-sized tree to around 5m in height, with a spreading habit. The leaves emerge bronze in spring, maturing to green then turn to vibrant autumnal shades of orange and yellow. Fragrant, double-frilled Japanese paper lantern-like flowers open yellowish-white to green, gradually turning to pale pink then dark pink as they mature, appearing in April
