An upright, mid-sized deciduous shrub to 2.5m high, with arching stems and grey-green, oval leaves with very finely serrated edges. New shoots have purple-tinted stems. Produces rounded clusters of 6-10 flowers, pale pink or white tinted with pink at the base, each flower 4-7cm across and with long, narrow outer sepals. Flowers in late spring and early summer
