A very showy 'butterfly' gladiolus. This type of gladiolus often have frilly edged petals and bold markings, reminiscent of a butterfly's wings, hence their name. Maximum height around 0.7 to 1m, with green sword like leaves and an erect upright flower spike with buds that open out into large eye-catching flowers. The blooms are mid to pale pink with creamy yellow and bold red splashes on some of the lower petals. Striking blooms for the summer garden.

Cultivation

Grow in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, planting the corms 15cm deep in spring, on a bed of sharp sand to aid drainage; in frost-prone areas, lift when the leaves turn yellow-brown, and store the new corms in a dry, frost-free place until the following spring; in milder areas, add a thick dry mulch over winter
