An evergreen shrub to about 2m, with fine, dark, zig-zag branches and small, leathery, dark green, spoon-shaped leaves; the leaf undersides covered in fine, silvery hairs. In late spring produces small, yellow, fragrant, star-shaped flowers, followed by yellow berries in autumn

Grow in well-drained soil in a sheltered position, such as next to a south-facing wall, or in the open in mild areas. Best in full sun, though will tolerate partial shade
Propagate by basal semi-ripe cuttings in late summer or autumn
Pruning group 8; usually no pruning required, but will tolerate hard pruning to restrict size

May be susceptible to honey fungus in gardens where it is present but insufficient data to determine degree of susceptibility
