'Erecta' is an upright, deciduous shrub to around 2.5m tall with erect branches that may arch with age. The dark green, narrowly ovate leaves are hairy beneath and turn red in autumn. Clusters of small white flowers sometimes tinged with pink are borne in late spring and followed by red fruits
