Clematis QUEEN’S NURSE (‘Evigsy159’)

The Clematis QUEEN'S NURSE™ is a compact, free‑flowering clematis with a remarkable ability to produce two distinct bloom styles on a single plant. Pale, striped flowers appear on fresh growth, while deeper pink blooms develop on more mature stems, creating a changing display through the season.

Named to honour the close relationship between the National Garden Scheme (NGS) and The Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing (QICN), this vibrant clematis marks the origins of the NGS in Guernsey. Founded by Raymond Evison CBE and the Guernsey Queen’s Nurses, the scheme began as a way to raise funds for the Queen’s nursing service. Today, Clematis Queen’s Nurse helps raise awareness of both charities.
This colour changing clematis was developed through a carefully managed programme of selective crosses, followed by a rigorous trialling process.

The result ensured the plant was not only visually distinctive, but also reliable, resilient and genuinely garden-worthy.
